Hong Yu is founder and serves as the Chairman and President of Aboundi Inc. with the mission to enable innovative solutions for the ubiquitous communications networking applications with high quality and cost effective essential networking products.
Earlier Hong had founded Lancast in 1990 and the company grew to be listed in the Inc. 500 fastest growing companies in 1997. Lancast has innovated the Ethernet for the First Mile application through optical fiber deployment and subsequently changed the name to Metrobility Optical Systems in 2001 as a reflection of both the product and market expansion which was ultimately acquired by Telco Systems in 2005.
Hong founded his first entrepreneurial venture, CASAT Technology, Inc. In 1981 that developed the first Frequency Agile Video Modulator device for the cable and satellite market. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, he worked for Corning Glass, GTE, and M/A-Com with progressive Engineering responsibilities from R&D, System Applications, to Product Marketing Management.
In 1998, he was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by the New Hampshire High Technology Council and was chosen as the "National Minority Small Business Person of the Year" by the US Small Business Administration the same year.
He is a Registered Professional Engineer and has seven patents issued for innovative communications solutions with other patent applications pending. He holds both the BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA degree from the University of Texas.
