Q01: What is Electric Connect Networking? |
| |
The user can use Electric Connect Networking components to construct network quickly using existing power wiring. Aboundi NetBridge adapters allows multiple desktops, notebooks, even game consoles and audio video (AV) equipments to be easily networked through multiple AC power outlets.
|
Q02: Is Electric Connect networking proven? |
| |
Yes. PowerLine Communication technology has been fully implemented in silicon and tested in the field across North America, Europe and Asia.
|
Q03: |
Will PowerLine Communication technology interfere with ADSL services? |
| |
No, PowerLine Communication products do not interfere with ADSL services. PowerLine Communication and ADSL service can be used together to complement each other.
|
Q04: |
How many nodes can we have in an Electric Connect network segment? |
| |
Typically, you can have 16 NetBridge adapters in a PowerLine network segment for each network segment name assigned.
|
Q05: Can I Combine Wireless Device with Electric Connect? |
| |
Yes.
|
Q06: Can I use Aboundi NetBridge in the Europe as well? |
| |
Yes, Aboundi manufactures products for these markets such as Europe, USA, and Asia.
|
Q07: Is Electric Connect network secure? |
| |
Aboundi uses the 56 bits DES (85M) and 168-bit Tri-DES (200M) encryption code which makes sure that your network and your data are highly secure and are not shared by unwanted intruders.
|
Q08: What can I benefit from Electric Connect? |
| |
You can create the network without deploying new wires in a rapid and dynamic way.
|
Q09: Can I plug NetBridge adapter into a power line extention cord? |
| |
Yes, but that may reduce the communication signal.
|
Q10: My Network works, but slow? |
| |
Do not plug the device into a power strip or surge protector because these devices may consist of filter and
impair signal. Also avoid plugging the device right next to noisy sources such as cell phone charger, Halogen
light, noisy desktop computer, vacuum cleaner, etc. Both cases result in poor transmission speed.
|
Q11: |
What is the maximum distance of two devices in an Electric Connect Network? |
| |
We recommend using distances up to 300 meters. Under ideal conditions it is possible to reach longer distances. This depends on the type of cable and the quality of the joints.
|
Q12: |
I cannot connect to other computers on my network or to the Internet. |
| |
(1)Make sure the IP address and TCP/IP protocol are set up correctly for all the powerline networked computers.
(2)Make sure the Network IDs are the same.
|
Q13: What OS does the Aboundi utility software fully support? |
| |
Aboundi's utility supports Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP.

Q01: |
Why can’t I get video in NVR/Command Center with my IP camera even after making the proper configuration changes needed? |
| |
Make sure the IP camera image setting is set to Motion JPEG (MJPEG) and not MPEG mode; you can find this configuration setting in actual camera configuration and in the manual for the camera.
|
Q02: |
Why do I get the error message “TCP Connection failure” in the NVR Application? |
| |
Check for internet connectivity. Make sure you can browse to any website using your default browser. If you cannot browse to any website, make sure the Ethernet cable is connected to the computer and recycle the power to your cable/dsl modem and router.
|
Q03: |
Why do I get the error message “IP Update: failed” in the NVR Ap plication? |
| |
Make sure you can browse to the WebEyeAlert Embedded Web Server by going to http://localhost:8080/webeyedvr Also, make sure the website URL field under SETTINGS|WEBSITE match the actual website URL. The setting should be: localhost:8080/webeyedvr/webeye.jsp if using the Embedded Web Server. If you are running the Enterprise Web Server it would be: ipaddressofwebserver:8080/webeyedvr/webeye.jsp
|
Q04: |
I am getting the error message “IP Update: Invalid Username/Password" in the NVR application, and I cannot view remote live video. |
| |
This is due to a username/password mismatch of the recorder application and the website. Ensure that the username and password entered into SETTINGS|WEBSITE match the actual admin username and password of the website.
|
Q05:
Why am I getting much less recorded video then expected? |
| |
Check your free space on the recorded drive, you can find out where the recorded data is stored by checking the SETTINGS | OPTIONS | Record Folder field. Also make sure that the Recording Space slider bar is set to a high setting to allow more recording. The method of recording can also affect how many hours of recording you will get. Configuring the camera’s to record using “Smart Record” or “Motion” will conserve disk space and allow more recording.
|
Q06: |
Why do I get the error message “Webeye player not init” when trying to view live video through the web server. |
| |
This is usually due to a mismatch of the information in the webserver vs. the information in the recorder application. On an admin account on the web server click on MANAGE ACCOUNT | CONTROLLER SETTINGS |EDIT. Make sure the serial# and IP address matches the values in the recorder software.
|
Q07: |
Why is the image quality of the local/live video displayed on the NVR Application very low? |
| |
You must set the Color Depth of the desktop to 16BIT or higher – it will have a very low image quality when your desktop display is set to 256 colors or less.
|
Q08: |
If my camera model is not on the supported list, will it still work ? |
| |
When the camera manufacturers roll out new camera models, they usually don’t change the firmware much; it is very likely the new model still works with WebEyeAlert software. Please try out your new camera model by choosing the similar model on the supported list.
